Heartfelt Gratitude for the SCIVIS Space Camp Experience

I want to extend my deepest gratitude for the incredible opportunity to attend the space camp in Huntsville, Alabama. The experience has had a profound impact on my personal development and growth.

The activities were not only informative but also incredibly engaging. Each moment was a stepping stone towards a deeper understanding of space exploration, and I am grateful for the dedication and passion that the Space Camp brought to the program.

Among the myriad of activities, I found myself particularly captivated by the planetarium session. The immersive experience of exploring celestial wonders left a profound mark on my mind. The sense of wonder and awe instilled in me during that session will stay with me for a lifetime.

Additionally, I was truly inspired by all the staff and other important people who spoke to us and guided us through the week who generously shared their knowledge and experiences. Their expertise and dedication to space exploration were visible, and I left with a renewed sense of purpose and aspiration.

Once again, thank you for granting me this invaluable opportunity. It has been an honor and a privilege to be a part of the SCIVIS Space Camp, and I am eager to carry forward the lessons and inspiration gained from this experience.

For me, SCIVIS was a transformative experience—an opportunity I truly valued and represented the unfulfilled dream of a family member. Space Camp for Interested Visually Impaired Students (SCIVIS) was the first camp I ever attended. It allowed me to connect with people from various countries and states, and it was also my first experience traveling abroad by plane.

If I could participate in this experience again, I know it would be different, yet SCIVIS will always hold a special place in my heart. This experience deepened my understanding of completely blind individuals and inspired me to be braver in helping those around me.

My dream has always been to reach the United States. For two years, I sought to achieve this through other projects but faced repeated setbacks. Then, Miss Dorina told me about SCIVIS—an opportunity that would change my life and provide me with an unforgettable experience.

SCIVIS represented one of the most beautiful moments of my life, a chapter that will remain forever in my heart. This camp allowed me to grow, expand my horizons, and aim higher. Most importantly, I learned that the phrase "I can't" does not exist.

Upon returning from the United States, I was filled with optimism, newfound self-confidence, and a strong desire to explore the world and become as independent as possible. Inspired by this experience, I began participating in Erasmus+ exchange programs, leading me to the Parliament of the European Union, where I contributed to a project that supported people with disabilities.

Without SCIVIS, I wouldn't have had so many realizations. Above all, this camp was truly a dream come true for me and it changed my life.

First of all, I want to thank you for this incredible opportunity that I have benefited from. I enjoyed every moment of this unique adventure, but what I loved the most was feeling closer to the Universe, which was a whole new world for me.

Everyone around us was very helpful and kind, starting with Miss Dorina and all the staff there. I wasn’t afraid to climb or swim because everyone supported me throughout the experience. With their help, I managed to overcome all my fears despite my disability.

I feel very fortunate for this chance, and I am truly grateful for all the support I received.

I want to thank you very much for this incredible experience. Thanks to you, I had the chance to attend the SCIVIS space camp. I had the opportunity to travel by plane for the first time, and this gave me a new perspective on the world. Even though it doesn't directly relate to the camp, I couldn't leave out this detail.
At the camp, I learned many new and fascinating things about space. I learned about astronauts' nutrition and had the chance to see life-size rockets. I also attended experiments that helped me understand better the universe, including seeing the different states an egg goes through when entering the atmosphere.

We had several space missions, but the most interesting one was the mission  when I repaired a satellite, while I wore a cosmonaut suit.
The real challenge came when I had to climb a pole about 10 meters high, which was moving. Even though I was nervous, I managed to overcome my fear and reach the top.
What impressed me the most was the 3D cinema hall, where images from space and other planets were projected. I also had the chance to hear the sounds emitted by certain bodies in space. I felt as if I was actually in space, and I was truly fascinated because my childhood dream was to fill how it is in space.

This camp helped me learn a lot of new things about the universe and better understand them. It also helped me overcome my fears. I learned that fear is only in my head, and this will help me in the future in many situations. Besides this, found new things about other cultures and I was able to interact with other kids and build friendships. I still keep in touch with one girl.

Once again, thank you for this incredible experience because this camp helped me grow as a person.

Thank you for this incredible experience and the opportunity to be part of a program in the United States. I particularly enjoyed the activity where we climbed the pole and the scuba diving during camp. These experiences taught me that teamwork is much more enjoyable than working alone. I also liked the activity in which we had to build a car using a pair of pliers to lift stones and place them into the car, simulatingthe rover.

Visiting the space museum was a highlight for me; I saw a life-sized rocket for the first time, which truly impressed me. Additionally, when I went to the cinema, I was pleasantly surprised by how fascinating everything looked, especially the rocket launch simulator, which was really enjoyable.

My name is Denisa, and I had the incredible opportunity to attend Space Camp. I would like to express my gratitude to SCIVIS and Miss Dorina for this chance. During my time there, I learned a great deal about space and created unforgettable memories with people whom I may never see again. I am thankful for the opportunity to meet them.

This experience was one of the most beautiful and interesting of my life. If given the chance again, I would gladly repeat it. I believe it is important for as many visually impaired children as possible to have this experience.

I am Andreea, and in the fall of 2017, I participated in an international space camp for blind and visually impaired students, in Huntsville, Alabama, United States. This camp was truly remarkable for me. It took me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to explore the lifestyle of astronauts through accessible activities designed for blind and visually impaired students. Attending this camp helped me improve my English skills, as I was not fluent at the time. I met new people from various countries, which made me feel more responsible and punctual regarding the activities I had to participate in. I realized that I became more comfortable in an unfamiliar environment. Because of this experience, I developed a love for teamwork and enhanced my creativity.

I built skills that enabled me to communicate in a common and useful language, making it easier for me to speak in various situations. Additionally, I was actively involved throughout the camp and managed to integrate myself among many people of different nationalities. As a result, I was awarded a gold medal “ The Golden Arrow”, which made me feel unique. This recognition reinforced the idea that all the efforts I put into adapting at the camp were worthwhile. It has motivated me to pursue my ambitions and fight for everything I want, as I now believe that nothing is impossible.
